Roethlisberger Laments Strategy, Game-Changing Turnover
ARLINGTON, Texas (93-7 THE FAN) -- Ben Roethlisberger seldom shies away from blame after a loss, and in that respect, this particular Sunday was no different from any other. What was different was his apparent expression of discontent with the Steelers' late-game play calling.
"At the end of the first half, we were getting into a lot of the no-huddle stuff, and that's when we were moving the ball. We were taking the short stuff, the deep stuff, whatever they were giving us. That's when we were at our best, and that's what we need to do," he said after the 27-24 defeat. "In the second half, we didn't do much of it, and that's disappointing."
He also broke down the interception by Brendan Carr early in overtime that happened on a pass targeted for Mike Wallace and led to the game-winning field goal by Dallas' Dan Bailey.
"We called a good play, and just didn't execute it," Roethlisberger said after the 27-24 overtime loss. "That was the first time that guy had backed off Mike. I called the out route, and just didn't put enough on it to the outside far enough, and he made a good play."
Furthermore, Big Ben said the Steelers "didn't call the right plays" to get Heath Miller the ball after a very productive first half by his tight end:
