Road Crews, Residents Dealing With Snow
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Road crews remain out and about this morning after spending the overnight hours salting slick roads, bridges and overpasses.
Local residents and crews spent much of the weekend preparing for this latest wintry blast, which covered the area in white overnight.
The rain that fell over the weekend prevented crews from pre-treating the roadways because the brine solution would have just washed off, but they continue salting and plowing this morning.

Meanwhile, people were dealing with a snowy commute into work this morning.
Art Bucholtz, one local resident, said he planned to take it easy on the roads during the snowfall, but was dismayed that others may not do the same.
"I think with the heavier SUVs, people think the truck - or whatever you call it - can handle it, and I don't think [that's] right," said Bucholtz. "They do speed."

At Lowe's in North Fayette Township Sunday night, people were busy stocking up for the snow.
Mike Zilner came in to find a replacement snow shovel.
"Winter [is] coming, it's on its way and we're ready to roll," said Zilner, who was buying a shovel. "We're going to be ready before the snow comes."
Don Sabol says watching football late Sunday convinced him to get out and stock up on some rock salt.
"I was watching the Chicago game and they were getting hammered up there pretty good, so I think it's [going to] blow on down," he said.
One thing to remember in the coming days, it will get so cold that some road salt won't be too effective, so experts are advising commuters to be extra careful while driving.
