Road Crews Prepared For Expected Winter Storm

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Road crews are gearing up for another blast of winter weather expected to head this way this evening.

According to the Director of Pittsburgh Public Works, road crews are in the midst of putting a detailed plan together and are set to hit the roads with more than 60 workers and 56 pieces of equipment to battle the winter storm expected to roll through.

"All the crews will be working 12 hour shifts," said Rob Kaczorowski of Pittsburgh Public Works. "The daylight crew will be extended until 6 tonight, while the nighttime crew will be working from 6 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. We'll see what we need tomorrow morning at 6."

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain, making roads dangerous to maneuver. This warning is in effect from 7:00 p.m. Friday until 1:00 p.m. Saturday.

Kaczorowski is confident that road crews are prepared to handle the winter weather, and advises people to stay home and be safe if you do not have to go out tonight.
