Road Construction Could Cause Traffic Headaches For Steelers' Fans
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- If your pathway to black and gold fandom takes you on Route 65 this weekend, you need to be aware of some lane restrictions.
"We're going to be down to a single lane in each direction on Route 65 from Kendall Avenue in Bellevue to the McKees Rocks Bridge," said Steve Cowan, of PennDOT.
In other words, it could be slow going through the area as they lay a fresh coating of asphalt.
"However, we will have police officers at key intersections," says Cowan.
If your route to Heinz Field takes you through the Liberty Tunnel to the city, remember that's closed for construction and there will be no reprieve for Steelers fans.
"No, that is closed. An around the clock closure until Friday, Aug. 30," Cowan said.
Then, there is the Parkway West from Campbells Run out to 2230.
"Starting tonight at 10 p.m. pretty much through the weekend, we're going to be paving and having a single lane in each direction for the paving," Cowan said.
That could slow you down on your way to the game, but there is some good news.
"After the Steeler game ends, for the next two hours, there will not be any construction on the Parkway West to allow motorists to get back home," said Cowan.
