Rich Walsh's 5 Most Impressive Aspects Of Pirates' Spring Training

The Pittsburgh Pirates are down in Florida for Spring Training. They are looking to improve upon back-to-back playoff appearances in the hopes of bringing a World Series title back to Pittsburgh!

KDKA-TV's Rich Walsh was in Bradenton to witness the start of Spring Training.

Here's the five most impressive things Rich saw during his time with the team:

5 - Pedro Alvarez - Working At First Base

Alvarez says he feels comfortable making the adjustment from third to first.

Alvarez led the majors in throwing errors last season. He will still have to throw across the diamond, although not as often, so this could still be a major issue.

4 - Battle For The Fifth Starter

It's not a bad thing when you're good enough to have two pitchers competing for the fifth starting role in the rotation.

The Pirates have depth at this position and it's between Vance Worley and Jeff Locke.

Whoever loses the battle will more than likely head to the bullpen. If last year is any indication, they will need both if there are any injuries.

3. - Pedro Alvarez Hitting Absolute Bombs Over The Fence In Batting Practice.

This is maybe the best sight if you're a huge Buccos fan.

It looks like Pedro found his bat, at least for the first part of Spring Training. Alvarez hit a bomb in the Bucs' first official game if the spring too.

Last year, Alvarez was half as productive as 2013 - batting .231 with 18 homers and 56 RBI. In 2013, he hit .233 with 36 homers and 100 RBI.

His big bat in the lineup is crucial to the Pirates' success this season.

2 - Jung Ho Kang's Tattoo Of HIMSELF On His Ankle!

We know Kang can hit. He proved that against the Blue Jays with a homer in his first game of Spring Training.

You have to look closely though. One thing not everyone knows is Kang has a tattoo of a picture of himself on his ankle.

Kang said he was looking for a girlfriend in the United States, maybe this is the way to go.

1 - More Than 20 Korean Media Members Following Jung Ho Kang EVERYWHERE!

The media isn't here to take pictures of his tattoo.

Kang is the biggest baseball star in Korea and all the media at Spring Training is proof.

He has an entourage of at least 20 Korean media members at all times.

Kang also has a personal interpreter that is with him 24/7. He is also trying to adapt by taking online English courses every night.
