'Restaurant: Impossible' Helps Bloomfield Business
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A Food Network TV show overhauled a local restaurant.
"Restaurant: Impossible" wrapped up two days of taping at Del's Restaurant on Liberty Avenue in Bloomfield.
The show spends $10,000 to turn a restaurant around through renovations and tweaks to the menu.
It wasn't easy.
"The transformation here at Del's has been a very, very, tough one because not only was the restaurant old – I mean original floors from 1940 – leaks everywhere," Chef Robert Irvine, the show's host, said.
The restaurant has been in the owner's family for 62 years, so change was met with some resistance.
"The owner – owners – wow, that was the biggest transformation that I have seen in the entire series that we have done so far," Irvine said. "From hard-headed – how do I say – frazzled young lady to a calm, confident employer."
KDKA wasn't allowed to interview the owners, but the show's cameras did capture their reaction.
This episode is slated to air in February.
