Report: Steelers To Visit With Potential Solution To Defensive Line Losses
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Former Steelers Defensive Lineman Ziggy Hood (Jaguars) and Al Woods (Titans) have signed with other teams already this offseason, leaving the team little depth at the position with only Cam Heyward, Steve McClendon and Hebron Fangupo still under contract.
Current free agent Brett Keisel could still be a candidate to return to help at the position, but the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that the Steelers are looking at another free agent to possibly solidify the line.
Carrington is a 6-5, 301 pound defensive lineman with four years of experience under his belt. The Arkansas State product was drafted in the 3rd round, 72nd overall by the Bills in 2010. In his career, Carrington has played in 44 games, starting 9 of them while being credited with 53 total tackles (33 solo, 20 assists), 4 sacks, 6 passes defended and 1 forced fumble.
Carrington will turn 27-year-old in June and it is believed he can be had at a reasonable price given that he missed the final 13 games last year because of a torn quadriceps.
