Report: Steelers To Draft Cornerback, Safety In First 3 Rounds
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - It's widely assumed that the Steelers will be targeting cornerbacks in this year's draft, as that's their biggest position of need.
As Jamie Oakes of 247Sports.com writes, two of the biggest draft experts out there have the Steelers drafting a cornerback in the first round while addressing other issues in their secondary in the third round.
Todd McShay of ESPN has the Steelers drafting cornerback Byron Jones out of Connecticut in the first round and both McShay and Mel Kiper have the Steelers dipping back into the secondary pool in the third round by selecting Virginia Safety Anthony Harris.
The 6-foot-1-inch, 199-pound Jones suffered a season-ending injury to his left shoulder seven games into the season. He finished the year with 24 tackles, two interception and four passes broken up and returned one interception 70 yards for a touchdown.
The 6-foot-1-inch, 190-pound Harris recorded 109 tackles to go along with two interceptions and one sack in 2014.
