Report: Steelers Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger Suffers Mid-Foot Sprain
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has suffered another injury and is expected to miss a few weeks.
Late in the fourth quarter, Roethlisberger was taken to the locker room by cart after suffering an apparent foot injury. He did not return to the game.
According to KDKA-TV's Rich Walsh, Roethlisberger suffered a mid-foot sprain.
93-7 The Fan's Steelers insider Ed Bouchette of the Post-Gazette echoed that report during his weekly appearance on "The Fan Morning Show."
"It's a mid-foot sprain," Bouchette said. "He's going to be out one-to-two weeks," Bouchette said.
Bouchette isn't sure what game Roethlisberger will be back in, though he thinks the Seattle game would make sense given the projections.
"They can always be off," Bouchette said. "Just because they're saying one-to-two weeks, it depends on how he recovers. But, the goal is, yeah, that game out in Seattle, which would mean he'd only miss one game, the Cleveland game, and that's at home against the Browns, so it's very winnable without him," Bouchette said.
After the game, Head Coach Mike Tomlin said Roethlisberger is getting an MRI on his left foot and an update will be provided at a future time.
Meanwhile, his teammates are hoping for the best.
"Ben is our franchise quarterback. We live and die with him. I'm looking forward to seeing how he's feeling," Antonio Brown said. "Hopefully, he can be with us."
Some Steelers fans didn't seem to be too concerned about Roethlisberger missing this Sunday's game against the Browns.
"He'll be back in a week, a week? That's how tough Ben is. He'll be back in a week, two weeks tops." Kevin McDonald said.
"He'll bounce back, because that's what he [does]...you know what I mean? It'll be a couple of weeks, we'll still be able to hold up as long as we keep running the ball and play good defense, we'll be alright." Joey Martin said.
"It's okay because we have Johnny Manziel, 'Johnny Football' in Pittsburgh, okay, and then we got a bye." Andrew Boncuk said.
Raiders defensive end Aldon Smith sacked Roethlisberger and proceeded to fall on his left foot. Roethlisberger needed help getting off the field and didn't put pressure on the foot.
"It's the worst feeling that a left tackle can probably feel. So, I have to take responsibility for that play and then play better in the future so that it won't happen again," Alejandro Villanueva said.
Fortunately, Landry Jones was ready when called upon and led the Steelers to an important victory.
"We're going to play and we're going to play to win regardless of who's in there. It's that next man up mentality," Landry Jones said.
The Steelers host the Browns at Heinz Field on Sunday before their Week 11 bye.
