Report: Steelers Kicker Shaun Suisham Has Torn ACL, Out For Season
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Steelers loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Sunday's Hall of Fame game may have cost them their kicker.
Steelers kicker Shaun Suisham left the game and reports say he may have tore his ACL.
According to our news partners at the Post-Gazette Suisham has a torn anterior cruciate ligament and cartilage damage, and the team will almost surely place him on injured reserve, ending his season.
The PG reports Suisham will have surgery on his left knee this week.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network says Suisham has told people that he tore his ACL.
Suisham will undergo an MRI today to be sure.
The injury happened when Suisham attempted to make a tackled during the opening kickoff of the second half.
After the game Coach Mike Tomlin called Suisham's injury "potentially significant."
Suisham has converted more than 91% of his FG attempts over the past three-years and is one of the most consistent kickers in the NFL.
The Steelers will bring in three veteran kickers for some try-outs. They plan on bringing in journeyman Jay Feely, former Saints kicker Garrett Hartley and former Eagles kicker Alex Henery.
