Agents: All-Pro Cornerback Darrelle Revis Returns To Jets
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN/AP) - All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis is returning to the New York Jets, according to his agents.
After winning the Super Bowl with the NFC East rival New England Patriots, Revis is going back to the team with which he spent his first six NFL seasons before being traded to Tampa Bay in 2013.
Revis agents Neil Schwartz and Jonathan Feinsod wrote on Twitter on Tuesday night that "pending legal," Revis has agreed to terms on a new deal with the Jets.
The five-year contract is worth $70 million, with $39 million guaranteed. He'll make $33 million in the first two years, and $48 million in the first three.
The Patriots declined a $12.5 million roster bonus on Revis, making him a free agent - and a top target for the Jets and new general manager Mike Maccagnan.
Revis had two interceptions last season while helping the Patriots win the championship.
According to ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter, earlier in the day, the Steelers inquired about the free agent cornerback.
But as Schefter added and was expected, Revis commanded a salary much higher than the Steelers could afford.
In 2014, the New England Patriots paid Revis $12 million on a one-year deal.
