Report: Shero To Serve As Associate GM, Bylsma As Coach Of Olympic Hockey Team
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- There will reportedly be a heavy Pittsburgh Penguins' presence behind the Team USA hockey team that plays in the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
According to a report from USA Today, Penguins' General Manager Ray Shero is set to be named as associate general manager of the team and Penguins' coach Dan Bylsma will serve as head coach.
The official announcements will not be made until Saturday.
USA Today reports Shero will serve behind Nashville Predators' GM David Poile, who is expected to be named Team USA's general manager.
Shero worked under Poile for eight years with the Predators before coming to the Penguins.
Philadelphia Flyers' head coach Peter Laviolette and the Vancouver Canucks' John Tortorella were also considered to be in the running to coach the team next winter.
The official announcement will be made in New York.
