Report: Seahawks Considering National Anthem Protest Sunday
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Seattle Seahawks are considering a "big surprise" during the National Anthem prior to their game against the Miami Dolphins Sunday.
According to a report in the Seattle Times linebacker Bobby Wagner says the team has been considering taking action as a group.
Wagner told the Times he couldn't say exactly what the team might do, saying "whatever we decide to do will be a big surprise."
Wide receiver Doug Baldwin says the team will honor the country and the flag in a "pregame demonstration of unity."
Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane sat during the National Anthem last week and says he plans to do the same this week.
San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick's decision to kneel for the national anthem has raised awareness about why he's doing it, which he explained last month: "I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color."
