RadioShack Robbed In Murrysville
MURRYSVILLE (KDKA) -- Police continue to search for a suspect after two clerks were held at gunpoint during a robbery at the RadioShack in Murrysville Thursday night.
The robbery happened at about 9 p.m. as the store was closing.
"When he first went in the store, he ordered the clerks to shut the lights off so he couldn't be seen, so they were pretty much in the dark there for three or four minutes," Murrysville Police Chief Thomas Seefeld said.
The shopping center was put on lockdown because the gunman was still there when police arrived, but he ran out the store.
KDKA's Paul Martino reports:
"Our officers got here real quick – they were here within probably less than a minute and then the actor had run out the door and ran west," Seefeld said.
There was a foot chase, but the suspect apparently got away.
While the robbery was in progress, Leona Dunnett, the mother of 18-year-old Justin Dunnett, one of the RadioShack clerks, was waiting in the parking lot for her son to get off work.
"It's really a scary thing to have that happen in Murrysville – never thought that would happen here and I always thought he was safe, so it's not a real good feeling," she told KDKA-TV.
She says her son is shaken up.
"I talked to him briefly – haven't been able to talk to him yet, but he's very, very distraught," she added.
The gunman had a black hoodie and a black backpack. He also wore a white scarf and prescription glasses.
