Report: Pirates Manager Clint Hurdle Among Front-Runners For NL Manager Of The Year
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Looking to win the award in back-to-back years, Pirates Manager Clint Hurdle is positioning himself nicely to win his second consecutive National League Manager of the Year award.
According to Dayn Perry of CBSSports.com, Hurdle, along with Marlins Manager Mike Redmond and Nationals Manager Matt Williams, make up the leading candidates for this year's award.
If Hurdle were to win the award again this year, he could become the first back-to-back winner of the award since Atlanta Braves' Manager Bobby Cox achieved that feat in 2004 and 2005.
While winning the award would be a nice accomplishment, Hurdle is surely focused on other things, like trying to see if starter Charlie Morton can work his way back into the rotation.
Hurdle announced on Sunday that the team would be starting Morton in place of Vance Worley on Tuesday against the Boston Red Sox in an effort to see if he can contribute again this year.
