Report: Mike Pouncey Served With Grand Jury Subpoena In Hernandez Case
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - The twin brother of Steelers' center Maurkice Pouncey has been served with a Grand Jury subpoena in relation to the Aaron Hernandez investigation.
The Pouncey brothers and Hernandez played college football together at the University of Florida.
On Sunday, Miami Dolphins offensive lineman Mike Pouncey, 24, was served with a subpoena shortly after the team lost to the New England Patriots in Foxborough, Mass.
According to SportsIllustrated.com, the Grand Jury subpoena is tied to the Hernandez investigation, including a possible connection to interstate gun trafficking.
Both Mike and Maurkice Pouncey and Hernandez lived together for parts of their college careers.
In July, a photo emerged of the twins showing their support for Hernandez. They were wearing hats which said, "Free Hernandez."
Maurkice later apologized for the hats, but Mike refused to discuss them after the photograph garnered so much unwanted attention.
Hernandez is facing first-degree murder and weapons charges in the fatal shooting death of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd in June.
Hernandez has pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail.
While he has been served with a subpoena, it does not mean charges are pending against Mike Pouncey at this time. It is also not an indication that charges could be filed either.
KDKA reached out to the Steelers for a comment, but they declined to speak on the subject.
