Report: McCutchen Still A Front-Runner For NL MVP
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Looking to become the first Pittsburgh Pirate ever to win back-to-back National League MVP awards, Andrew McCutchen still finds himself as one of the front-runners for the award despite his recent injury that landed him on the disabled list for the first time in his career.
According to CBSSports.com Baseball Writer Matt Snyder, McCutchen, along with Dodgers Starter Clayton Kershaw, make up the leading candidates to bring home the MVP award this year.
Snyder takes McCutchen's rib injruy into account here saying that if the award was handed out today, it would likely go to McCutchen, but how long he's out and what he does when he returns from the injury will go a long ways in determining whether or not he wins the award again this year.
Others to keep an eye on according to Snyder are Carlos Gomex and Jonathan Lucroy of the Milwaukee Brewers, Yasiel Puig of the Dodgers, Giancarlo Stanton of the Miami Marlins and Troy Tulowitzki of the Colorado Rockies.
