Report: Maryland Eyeing Jamie Dixon
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- What would a Pitt basketball off-season be without rumors of another school being interested in head coach Jamie Dixon?
Gary Parrish of CBSSports.com is reporting that Maryland could be eyeing Dixon as a possible replacement for recently retired Gary Williams.
Multiple sources are telling Parrish that the top three names on the list are Dixon, Arizona head coach Sean Miller and Villanova head coach Jay Wright.
Someone from Dixon's camp would have to let Maryland know he'd be interested before they could officially pursue him.
Parrish also points out an interesting note concerning Dixon and Maryland, "One thing worth noting is that Dixon has an existing and strong relationship with first-year Maryland athletic director Kevin Anderson, who was previously the AD at Army when Dixon's sister, Maggie Dixon, was the school's women's basketball coach."
Sources tell KDKA-TV Sports that Dixon will be in New Jersey this weekend attending Ashton Gibbb's NBA tryout.
