Report: Marino To Withdraw NFL Concussion Lawsuit
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Dan Marino filed a lawsuit against the NFL for concussion-related injuries, but now, he is reportedly withdrawing it.
According to a report in the South Florida Sun Sentinel, Marino's name was never intended to be added to the list of 14 other players suing the league.
Lawyers are working on correcting the error.
The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia.
Marino, an NFL Hall-of-Famer and Pittsburgh native, did not allege any specific injuries, but the boiler-plate language related to all plaintiffs reads that they suffered "repetitive, traumatic sub-concussive and/or concussive head impacts."
This litigation was separate from an even larger ongoing lawsuit in which over 4,500 former players are suing the NFL.
They claim the league covered up the dangers of concussions and didn't face the issue head-on.
