Report: Girl Called Grandmother Before Triple Murder-Suicide
SHALER (KDKA) – A little girl reportedly made a frantic phone call to her grandmother moments before she was shot and killed in Shaler Sunday night.
According to a report in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, 7-year-old Quinn Gasparre called her grandmother as her mother, Lynette, and 48-year-old Barry Hardesty were arguing.
Quinn's grandmother could hear Hardesty screaming in the background. He was allegedly threatening to kill Quinn's biological father, who lives in New York.
The girl quickly hung up the phone and was allegedly shot by Hardesty some time later.
Sources tell KDKA Barry Hardesty may have been suffering from depression and taking anti-depressants and anti-ianxiety medication.
The family had just moved to Shaler from Ross Township a few weeks ago.
"I got a phone call from Highcliff Elementary, a recording about the death of a little girl. And I thought it might be her because Quinn's an odd name. And then I called the school and spoke with them and it was her and I was terrified. I was just shocked," neighbor Cindy Scott-McDonough said.
"She was nice, she always did her work. She was always quiet. She never got in trouble," Tom McDonough said.
Grief counselors were called to the school to help her friends deal with the tragic loss of a friend and classmate.
