Report: Gary Bettman Paid Millions During 2012-13 NHL Lockout

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - According to a report, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman made a salary of $8.8 million during the locked out season of 2012-2013.

According to Chris Peters of CBSSports.com, while the league halted play for an entire year, Bettman received a $500,000 raise from the previous year and was paid $8.8 million in salary and benefits.  This is about $5 million more than Bettman made during the previous lockout.

According to the report, Bettman's closest executives actually saw a pay decrease during the lockout.  The league as a whole posted a loss of $71.9 million during the lockout.

For a point of comparison, Peters says that Bettman's salary of $8.8 million during the lockout was $100,000 more than Sidney Crosby makes at $8.7 million.
