Report: Erickson To Serve As PSU's 17th President
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Penn State reportedly has a new president.
According to a report from The Daily Collegian Online, former Executive Vice President and Provost Rodney Erickson will serve as the university's 17th president.
He had been serving as the interim president following the dismissal of former president Graham Spanier.
Earlier this month, Spainer and long-time head football coach Joe Paterno were dismissed from their positions amid child sexual abuse allegations against former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky.
The Daily Collegian reports that the Board of Trustees decided to forego a national search to find a replacement for Spanier.
Erickson first became a faculty member at Penn State in 1977, the Daily Collegian reports.
