Report: Burress Meets With Tomlin
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) –- Plaxico Burress was in Latrobe Saturday morning, but he was not donning the black and gold - at least, not yet.
According to Ed Bouchette from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Burress had breakfast with head coach Mike Tomlin at Saint Vincent College.
Burress has also reportedly met with Steelers President Art Rooney and Director of Football Operations Kevin Colbert. He will also had lunch with the Steelers' players Saturday afternoon.
"We're always talking about looking to add," Colbert said Saturday. "There's always a comfort zone when you know the player that you might bring back just like we did last year with [Byron] Leftwich and [Larry] Foote and [Antwaan] Randle El. If you've had a guy previously, I think we know what to expect from him and he knows what to expect from the organization."
While no deal is in place, Ben Roethlisberger seemed excited about the prospect of playing with Burress Friday night.
"Plax and I have been talking for the last couple months and I talked to him the other day and said, 'Would you be interested?'" Roethlisberger said.
However, Roethlisberger would not give any details about Burress' response to the question.
On Friday, Burress met with Tom Coughlin of the New York Giants.
Veteran tight end Daniel Graham is visiting the Steelers as well.
Pittsburgh has a vacancy at the tight end position after Matt Spaeth signed with the Chicago Bears earlier this week.
2:30 p.m. Update:
Burress was seen leaving a dormitory building on campus with Ike Taylor after a meeting with Omar Khan and Colbert.
7:00 p.m. Update:
Burress had breakfast with Tomlin and Colbert, lunch with Roethlisberger, Leftwich and James Farrior, and met again with Colbert and Khan. His visit lasted about seven hours.
Burress is set to meet with the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
