Red Kettle Recovered
POINT MARION (KDKA)- State police say they have found a stolen Salvation Army red kettle near the Monongahela River in Point Marion.
Police say a woman approached a Salvation Army volunteer and told the volunteer she was there to relieve them. This happened at the Shop N Save plaza in Point Marion.
The woman made off with the red kettle, a bell and the volunteer vest.
Police say she took the red kettle to another store nearby, and solicited donations that she planned on keeping for herself.
The red kettle was broken open when police found it near the river. It still had around 90 cents inside, but all of the other donations had been taken.
State police are still trying to track down the woman in question, as well as her accomplice.
