Recall Issued For Ground Turkey Products
PITTSBURGH (KDKA/AP) -- A recall has been issued for 36 million pounds of ground turkey after one person died and more than 70 others were sickened by salmonella.
The United States Department of Agriculture and Cargill, a Minnesota-based company, announced the recall of fresh and frozen ground turkey products on Wednesday.
The recalled products were produced at the company's plant in Springdale, Ark., from Feb. 20 through Aug. 2.

Illnesses in the outbreak date back to March and have been reported in 26 states coast to coast, including Pennsylvania. Some of the other states include Michigan, Ohio, Texas and California.
According to the Allegheny County Health Department, eight cases have been reported statewide, with four in Allegheny County. However, those numbers could increase with reports of the recall.
In announcing the recall, Cargill says they have suspended production at that plant until they can find the source of the contamination.
According to Cargill, the packages in the recall include the code "Est. P-963;" however, those packages were labeled under several different brands.
Many of the recalled meats are under the label Honeysuckle White. Other brands include Riverside Ground Turkey, Natural Lean Ground Turkey, Fit & Active Lean Ground Turkey, Spartan Ground Turkey and Shady Brook Farms Ground Turkey Burgers.
The most common symptoms of salmonella include diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever within eight to 72 hours of eating a contaminated product. It can be life-threatening to some with weakened immune systems.
