Ravens LB Terrell Suggs Tears Achilles, Likely Out For Season
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) -- Reports out of Baltimore state Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs has torn his Achilles tendon and will likely miss the upcoming NFL season.
Sports Radio 93-7 The FAN's sister station in Baltimore, 105-7 The FAN, was the first to break this news.
Initial reports said Suggs suffered the injury while playing basketball in Arizona. He has since dispelled those rumors.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Suggs will undergo surgery next week. However, other reports state the Ravens are waiting for a conclusive diagnosis.
The Ravens released a brief statement on Suggs.
"We are in contact with Terrell. He will see a specialist early next week, and we'll know more at that time."
Suggs has become one of the better pass rushers in the NFL. He has terrorized the Pittsburgh Steelers and quarterback Ben Roethlisbeger, in particular, in recent years.
Over the last two seasons, Suggs has piled up 10 sacks, four forced fumbles and an interception against the Steelers in five games.
Steelers linebacker Lamarr Woodley quickly went to Twitter with his thoughts upon hearing of the Suggs injury.
"Yall kno i strongly dislike the ravens, but i hate hearing about an injury like the suggs 1.. Wishing him a fast recovery..."
