Rangers Manager Jeff Banister Ready For 3-Game Series Against Pirates
PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) -- The Pirates and Texas Rangers meet in the first game of a three-game weekend series tonight at Globe Life Park.
The game is significant, because Jeff Banister, who spent 29 years as a player and coach in the Pirates organization, will square off against his former club.
Banister is in his second season with the Rangers. In 2015, he won the American League Manager of the Year after leading Texas to 88 wins and a trip to the American League Division Series.
Banister served as Clint Hurdle's bench coach from 2011 through 2014.
Prior to Friday's game, he joined Pirates pre-game and post-game show host Dan Zangrilli for a one-on-one interview.
