Ramon Foster: Vick Can Get The Job Done
PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – Steelers OL Ramon Foster joined The Fan Morning Show on Tuesday for the regular weekly spot with the guys. His team is coming off their second straight win, albeit one that came at the loss of starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
Foster expressed his confidence in backup Michael Vick, who he thinks is perfectly capable of running the Steelers' offense as it exists now.
"I don't think [our offense] is limited," Foster said. "It's one of those things where we've got to protect him, got to make him comfortable too. We call the plays, he can definitely deliver on them. I think defenses may try to attack us differently, but it's our job to keep them at a distance."
Though Vick is relatively new to the Steelers' system, having only been with the team for about a month, Foster feels that it's important for the Steelers to not oversimplify their plan of attack and limit themselves offensively with a tough stretch on the horizon.
"I just think it's going to rely on him just executing the plays," Foster said. "I don't think Coach Haley's going to change it up to where we just become a very simple offense and just box ourselves in, because we've got some tough competition coming up."
While it's easy to be worried about a team's ability to produce with a backup under center, Foster doesn't see a reason to get worked up about it.
"I think he's going to handle it just fine," Foster said. "He's a guy that's been there before. His job now is just going to be to manage this thing until Ben gets back. We're not asking him to be Superman or anything like that. We're just asking him to play his role and win these games."
Foster joins The Fan Morning Show Tuesdays at 8:03 a.m.
