Rain Moving In, Ice In Higher Elevations
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A storm that is bringing heavy snow to the Midwest is going to bring unsettled weather to our area beginning today.
Rain is expected to move in around noon on Tuesday, and in some of the colder pockets that could be freezing rain.
Temperatures in the Pittsburgh area are expected to remain above freezing, so most of the precipitation that will fall will be rain.
But Meteorologist Dennis Bowman says higher elevations to the south and east of the city won't be as fortunate.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the ridges in Fayette and Westmoreland counties.
Winds could also be strong, with gusts up to 35 mph.
There have been some reports of wind damage, this picture was sent in from Latrobe.
The rain could mix with snow overnight, and into Wednesday but nothing is expected to accumulate in the city.
Thursday and Friday things will be turning colder, and snow showers are possible, with some accumulating snow.
