Pryor Works Out For 17 NFL Teams
HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP (KDKA/ AP) -- Former Jeannette High School and Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor worked out for 17 NFL teams on Saturday just ahead of Monday's NFL supplemental draft.
It all came together quickly for Pryor's agent, Drew Rosenhaus - with only a couple of days' notice, he scrambled to put together a workout that may be the only interaction most NFL teams will have with his client.
Even with that short turnaround, 17 teams showed up to scout Pryor during his pro day at Hempfield High School.
Pryor started the day by running the 40-yard dash in just over 4.3 seconds, and his vertical leap nearly touched the top of the wall alongside the field at Spartan Stadium.
From there, he spent the better part of an hour showing off a variety of throws from different distances.
After it all wrapped up, Pryor stepped up to the microphone to issue a statement on the way he plans to handle Monday's draft and the start of his career.
"I'd like to thank the commissioner, Mr. Goodell, for giving me an opportunity to play in the National Football League. It's a dream of mine to play quarterback. I appreciate you for giving me the opportunity and we will not appeal it," said Pryor of his five-game suspension at the start of the NFL season. "I will serve it because I did a wrong thing when I was young, and I'm going to serve it along with my Buckeye senior buddies at Ohio State."
Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay were among those watching Pryor.
Former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel also made an appearance, supporting his former star player after resigning under pressure amid an NCAA investigation that Pryor and others improperly sold memorabilia.
