Pryor To Enter NFL Supplemental Draft, Apologizes To Tressel
COLUMBUS, Ohio (KDKA) -- Former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor apologized to a number of people this afternoon during a press conference and announced he is entering the NFL's supplemental draft.
This afternoon marked the first time the Jeannette native spoke to media since leaving Ohio State.
"First of all I'd like to thank you all for coming today," Pryor said to the media. "I'd like to thank God for giving me the opportunity. In terms of Ohio State, I'd like to say sorry to the coaching staff, say sorry to teammates, say sorry to all Buckeye nation and all the Buckeye fans across the country. I never meant to hurt anybody directly or indirectly with my conduct off the field, and I am truly sorry."
Pryor then apologized specifically to former Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel, who won eight BCS bowls, compiled a 106-22 overall record and won a national championship during his 10-year tenure. Tressel resigned from his position on May 30.
"In terms of coach Jim Tressel, special shoutout, I'm sorry for what all went down, and I apologize with all my heart. I love you just like a father," Pryor said. "You taught me a lot. I apologize for putting you in the situation and taking you out of a job, a place that you love to be. I regret the fact that you're not there anymore, and I regret the fact that I'm not there anymore."
Pryor said he has nine more credits to finish in order to graduate from Ohio State, and he plans to come back to Columbus sometime to do so.
The former Ohio State quarterback also revealed his future football plans.
"I'm entering the supplemental draft, and I'm working hard every single day on the field and off the field to be a better quarterback," he said. "One of my goals is to be the best person I can possibly be off the field and be the best role model I can possibly be off the field. Thank you all for coming again and God bless you all."
