Pryor Suspended 5 Games In 2011
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Ohio State quarterback and former Jeannette star Terrelle Pryor previously said he planned on returning to Ohio State for his senior season. Today, he might have to rethink his decision.
Pryor and four of his teammates must sit out the first five games of the 2011 season for selling awards, gifts and university apparel and receiving improper benefits in 2009, the NCAA has determined.
In addition to missing five games next season, Pryor, Mike Adams, Dan Herron, DeVier Posey and Solomon Thomas must repay money and benefits ranging in value from $1,000 to $2,500.
The repayments must be made to a charity.
The NCAA is allowing the five players to play in the Jan. 4 Sugar Bowl.
According to the ruling, Pryor must repay $2,500 for selling his 2008 Big Ten championship ring, a 2009 Fiesta Bowl sportsmanship award and his 2008 Gold Pants, a gift from the university.
ESPN.com is reporting that Pryor's HS coach, Ray Reitz, said Terrelle was "trying to help his mother."
Based on this ruling, I find it real hard to believe Pryor will come back to Ohio State for just seven games. It's probably time to start getting paid legally by the NFL.
