Pryor Sinks 7 Threes In RMU Win
MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (93-7 The FAN) – Rodney Pryor scored a career-high 28 points to lead Robert Morris to a 87-65 victory over Fairleigh Dickinson on Thursday.
The first-year, junior-college transfer shot 7-10 from behind the arc and also led the Colonials in rebounding with 11 pull-downs, resulting in his first double-double.
Fairleigh Dickinson played a zone defense the majority of the game and the Colonials didn't pass up the abundant three-point shooting opportunities. Pyror said he recognized that the defense was weak and after sinking a few shots he was in a rhythm that couldn't be stopped.
"In the second half, when I saw 1 go in, and then the second one, then I knew it was going to be that type of night," Pryor said.
Pryor and Lucky Jones each scored 6 points in the first half to give the Colonials a 41-28 lead at half time that Fairleigh Dickinson was never able to recover from despite a 7-0 run from the Knights to start the second half.
RMU head coach Andy Toole said that the fast start was a big contributor to the Colonials' win.
"We are a team that when we see the ball go through the basket early we feel more comfortable, I don't know if that's necessarily a good thing but that's just who we are."
Freshman Marcquise Reed scored 14 points, Jones followed with 13 and Aaron Tate finished with 10.
Thursday night's victory was the 4th straight conference win for the Colonials and boosted it's record to (11-10, 7-2 NEC.)
