Propel Braddock Hills H.S. Students Sent Home After Threat
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Students at Propel Braddock Hills High School were sent home this morning after a threat was made against the school.
A group of parents also met with administrators to talk about their safety concerns.
"We are sending you home because we got a threat today at 7:10. If there was a threat at the school at 7:10, why did they let us in the school at 7:30?" Amara Jordan, a senior, said.
Students were supposed to return to class this morning after being off for the past two days.
Parents received the following voicemail message around 8 a.m. explaining the situation:
"Due to a phone call of concern received this morning, students will be sent home after being received at the buildings."
The announcement comes after two teenagers were arrested Monday and the school was placed on lockdown. One gun was found inside the building and a second weapon was found outside.
"Just coming back to school today and bringing them back and then to find out that there was a threat, I'm just, I think we need to make a fresh start on Monday," Janell West said.
"I panicked just from the incident that occurred on Monday so immediately I jumped up and - I just live up the street - so I came down to find out what was going on," Angela Jones said.
Earlier this week, Superintendent Dr. Tina Chekan told parents in a memo the school would be introducing metal detectors -- and students say it's about time.
"We should have had metal detectors. I feel like we are the only high school that we don't even have a security guard," Ebony Rodgers said.
