Presents Stolen From Church
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A local church is trying to track down two dozen Christmas presents after they were stolen.
Members of the Liberty Baptist Church in Uniontown had been buying and collecting the gifts for weeks, which were to be given to children.
Pastor Ewing Marietta said that the church has a Christmas tree covered in paper angels with a child's name written on each one. Church members would pick one and buy a present for that child.
Marietta said about $200 to $300 worth of presents was stolen.
"We figured they must of gained interest through the double doors somehow, came in and went to the back room where the presents were being stored," Marietta said.
The church planned to give the presents to the children at a celebration on Dec. 23 and still has time collect new presents before the event.
The church plans to have an auction Friday and a Gospel concert Saturday to try to raise money for new presents.
