Prescription Delivery Man Saves Elderly Woman
WILMINGTON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A pharmacy delivery saved an elderly woman who had been trapped in her home for a week.
Dylan Buchanan, 20, the shift supervisor at the Rite-Aid in Ellwood City, was making a delivery to a home in Wilmington Township, Lawrence County, on Monday, but no one came to the door.
Buchanan says the first time he knocked it sounded like a cat was inside meowing. Eventually, he heard a woman yelling for help.
He says he put his ear to the door and heard, "Help me! Please, God help!"
He dialed 911 and says he was told to try to get inside.
Buchanan went around back and climbed on a tractor to reach a window air conditioning unit. He says he got the woman's permission to push the unit inside, and crawled up to enter the home.
He says he found the woman on the floor in a hallway. Buchanan says she told him she didn't remember how she ended up on the floor but that she had been there for about a week.
He says she also told him she had no living relatives.
Paramedics took her to Butler Memorial Hospital. Her condition is not known.
Customers at the Rite-Aid have been praising Buchanan as a hero, but he says that's not the case. He says he was just in the right place at the right time.
Buchanan says it's fortunate that her prescription had run out because he wouldn't have been there otherwise.
