Port Authority Crews Complete Repairs On Power Problems Plaguing Blue Line T Service

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Work to repair damage to overhead power lines on the Blue Line Library continued during the Thursday morning rush.
The T sat cold and empty, as riders funneled onto Port Authority shuttle buses parked along the sidewalk.
This is the second day in a row that riders in the South Hills must make a longer-than-usual journey to and from work.
"It took me about an hour and a half so it was only 30-40 minutes over normal," said Brian Bonanno, transit rider.
Bonanno said he catches the Blue Line at the Library stop every morning, and he's trying to remain positive despite the delays.
"It usually doesn't take that much longer," said Megan Jones, a transit rider. "I feel like it's just a little bit inconvenient to first get on a bus to go to another T-stop then to just get on another T."
Jones said the inconvenience only added 5-10 minutes onto her commute home Wednesday night.
The Port Authority first tweeted about the downed power line on the Library Blue Line at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. They had hoped to fix the line by the Thursday morning rush, but needed more time. Crews filled the tracks near the Sarah Stop to finish up the work on the overhead power lines.
Shuttle buses circled around the clock between the Library and Lytle stops. Once the riders exited the bus at the Lytle stop, they boarded a small T and headed straight to Washington Junction. All service worked as normal from Washington Junction into town and the North Shore.
"It's been a little bit of an inconvenience this year," said Bonanno, citing this summer's flooding that also left the Blue Line Library out of commission for quite some time.
The Blue Line Library reopened in both directions around 12:30 p.m.
