Port Authority: Outdoor ConnectCard Machines Offline Due To Cold Weather

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The extreme cold is starting to cause problems for the Port Authority.
According to officials, many of their outdoor ConnectCard machines are having issues.
The Port Authority says most of the machines located outdoors have been taken offline due to the lingering, bitterly cold temperatures.
Locations where CC machines are out of service due to the cold: Allegheny (2); Atwood (2); Gateway (2); First Ave (2); Station Square; Mt. Lebanon; S Hills Village; Swissvale; Carnegie; S Hills Jctn; Potomac; Dormont; Memorial Hall; St. Anne; Roslyn; Hamnett; Homewood; Negley

The machines have an internal heating system, officials said, but it is not effective in these record-breaking cold temperatures.
Riders whose ConnectCard is malfunctioning or are unable to load their card with a pass or cash value may ride FREE until this situation is resolved. https://t.co/SBCH9qWrYv

Port Authority officials say any rider that needs to fill up their cards can ride for free until the system is fixed.
Officials say they have dispatched technicians to look at them.
