Pompeani Previews The Steelers Season, Opener
PITTSBURGH (KDKA 93-7 The Fan)- The Steelers open the season on Sunday at home against the Tennessee Titans.
Entering the season, Bob Pompeani says he thinks that 10 wins is doable for the Steelers.
The Steelers are favored against the Titans, and Pompeani said that being favored is deserved, but added that the team needs to establish itself defensively.
"This is a team that needs to force turnovers," Pompeani said. "Last year they weren't very good at it, 25th in the NFL. The year before, they were dead last in turnovers."
Pompeani added that it's no coincidence that the Steelers didn't last long in the playoffs in 2011, and missed the playoffs in 2012.
On offense, Pompeani said that success depends on the health of Ben Roethlisberger.
"Look how many teams have quarterback issues," Pompeani said. "If you have a good one, a franchise quarterback, you will be able to do well."
Pompeani added that Roethlisberger has the capability to throw to eight or nine different receivers in a game.
