Police, SWAT Team Surround Home In Sheraden
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - One person was arrested this morning after police and the SWAT team surrounded a home in Pittsburgh's Sheraden neighborhood.
Neighbors say authorities tossed tear gas inside the home on Christy Street around 7 a.m.
"The SWAT trucks, they pulled up," said Mary Rickerd, a neighbor. "They did a raid on the next door neighbor's house. This is absolutely frightening."
Four men were spotted being brought out of the house in handcuffs.
"They were shooting tear gas into the back and front of the house," Rickerd said. "They shot six shots into the front of the house and four into the back of the house."
Pittsburgh police and the Allegheny County SWAT team were called in to assist Findley Township. They were looking for a suspect who burglarized a house Wednesday afternoon on Country Hollow Road in Findley Township.
Findley Township police chief says some stolen items were found inside the Sheraden house, along with drugs. The stolen items included 14 weapons, rare coins, cash and jewelry.
"Two days ago, I watched them carrying in stuff into the house in blankets and rugs and stuff. They were laughing and joking," Rickerd said. "I was like, 'Hey, it looks like you guys have a dead body.' They were like, 'No, we're just hauling in stuff for Super Bowl Sunday.'"
Officials say the person they were looking for was not inside the home.
One of the four people in handcuffs was arrested and taken to the Allegheny County Jail.
He is facing a drug possession charge because the house was leased in his name. The other three were released.
