Police Seek Suspect In Wood St. Convenience Store Robbery
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh police are searching for a robbery suspect who they say held a convenience store clerk at knifepoint.
The robbery happened just after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the 7-Eleven in the 400-block of Wood Street.
According to investigators, the victim told police the suspect entered the store, walked behind the counter, pulled out a small silver knife and told the clerk to open the register.
Police say the suspect got away with all the money in the register as well as about 10 packs of cigarettes from under the counter. He fled on foot down Wood Street towards Liberty Avenue.
Authorities searched the area following the incident, but could not find him.
The suspect is described as an African American male about six-foot tall and weighing about 250 pounds. He was wearing a red, hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black shoes and black gloves.
He also had on a black mask that covered the lower part of his face, and was carrying what appeared to be a large backpack under his sweatshirt.
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
