Police Seek Suspect In West End Bank Robbery
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The search is underway for a suspect who investigators say demanded money from two tellers at a bank on Pittsburgh's West End Tuesday morning before getting away on foot.
Police say the armed robbery happened just before 10 a.m. at the First Niagara Bank on Wabash Street.
According to investigators, the suspect approached the first teller, "pulled a blue plastic bag from his waistband and pointed a gun at the teller saying, 'Give me the money; hurry up, give me the money.'"
Police say the suspect then went to a second teller station, reportedly pushed a customer out of the way and then said: "Give me more money; give me more money."
The suspect is described as an African American male who is tall and thin, about six-foot-two and 170 pounds. He was wearing a black baseball cap, dark sunglasses, a black vinyl jacket and blue jeans.
Police say the gun was a silver-colored revolver with a long barrel and a wooden grip.
The suspect left through the front door and got away on foot down Wabash Street in the direction of Neptune Street.
There's no word on how much money the man got away with.
The investigation into the robbery continues.
