Monroeville Man With Dementia Missing
MONROEVILLE (KDKA) – Monroeville Police are asking for the public's help to locate a missing man.
According to police, John Bendtsen was last seen Tuesday morning around 8 a.m. near his house on Northern Pike.
Bendtsen suffers from dementia and was reported missing around 6 p.m.
"He normally would go walk in the neighborhood and they thought that he was with somebody else that he was not with – specifically another family member," Monroeville Police Chief Kenneth Cole said.
His wife, Doreen, spoke to KDKA-TV's Brenda Waters through the storm door. Visibly upset, she is confused about what could have happened.
"It's just a real mystery," she said. "He's left his wallet and he's left his money and all his ID and he has an implant and he's supposed to carry a card for that."
Bendtsen is a white male standing 6-feet-2-inches and weighing about 150 pounds. He also has a thin build, green eyes and white hair. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt.
Authorities think he may have traveled to East Liberty where he was raised.
"Due to his medical condition of dementia, sometimes people go back to where they first remember," Cole said.
Police think Cole may have been picked up by a motorist.
