Police Seek Armed Suspect Holding Up Local Family Dollar Stores
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Pittsburgh Police are asking for help from the public finding a suspect in a series of recent armed robberies at local Family Dollar stores.
Police say they believe the same man is responsible in all three incidents.
The first two robberies happened on July 17 just after 8 p.m. at the store in the 3300-block of Penn Avenue and on July 20 just before 10 p.m. at the store on 56th Street.
The most recent robbery happened today just after 1 p.m. at the Family Dollar on Spring Garden Avenue.
According to police, the suspect orders the clerk to open the cash register and he then reaches over and steals the money inside. He has also ordered the clerk to the ground while he steals cigarettes.
Police say he's carried a gun in all three cases.

He is described as an African American male between 35- to 40-years-old, six-feet tall with a large build, stubble on his chin and a thin mustache.
The suspect was wearing a white hoodie, a black hat with the Pittsburgh Pirates logo, black pants and sunglasses.
In the Spring Garden robbery, investigators say a second suspect also came in with a gun.
That man is described as a light-skinned African American male with a smaller build. His face was concealed.
They got away in a small black vehicle, possibly a Chrysler 200.
