Police Search For Hit-And-Run Driver Who Struck Woman In Rochester
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Virginia Avenue is a busy stretch of road in Rochester.
And it was along that road where a woman was struck by a hit-and-run driver Thursday morning.
It was 7:15 a.m. when 43-year-old Stephanie Ferguson was walking to Rochester High School where she is a substitute teacher.
The mother of two did not want to be filmed by KDKA, but did tell us what happened.
As she was walking, the passenger-side mirror of a Ford Focus hit her on the left arm and side, knocking the mirror off the car.
Ferguson says the driver applied the brakes, but kept going.
She was later checked out at an area hospital and released.
Sara Hess walks along the same stretch of road every day to get to the bus station about 3 miles away. She says it's a dangerous walk.
Police took the mirror to a car dealership where it was determined to be from a Ford Focus, blue or gray in color.
Rochester Township Police are asking for anyone with information to give them a call.
