Teen In Custody After Braddock School Bus Shot

BRADDOCK (KDKA) – Police say they've arrested a teen after a pellet gun was used to shoot at a school bus in Braddock Thursday, injuring the driver.

It happened around 4 p.m. near the intersection of 4th Street and July Way.

The pellet broke one of the bus' windows and the driver suffered minor injuries as a result of the flying glass.

Police say they know who is responsible for the incident, but are not releasing the suspect's name because he is a juvenile.

"I just think it's typical, knucklehead teenage stuff," Braddock Mayor John Fetterman said. "I guess time's changed since I was a kid, it was soaping windows or that kind of nonsense. But this is, you know, just a ridiculous thing to have happened. Thankfully it wasn't a serious incident."

The teen was charged in the shooting and was taken to the Shuman Detention Center.

Yesterday, the suspect was described as an African American male standing at five-foot-three. He was wearing a pea coat.

The bus was carrying Woodland Hills High School students.

No students were injured in the incident.
