Police Probe Overnight Shootings After 3 Killed
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Neighbors found 21-year-old Kevin Gibson slumped over in a bullet-riddled car on Hill Avenue in Wilkinsburg last night.
Gibson was shot several times during an apparent drive-by shooting before crashing into a parked SUV.
Sonya Amherst came outside and rushed to help the victim.
"He wasn't breathing," she said. "I've been a nurse's aide for 14 years, plus I'm somebody's mom."
Amherst immediately began administering CPR.
"Compressions, breathing in his mouth," she said. "At first, his mouth was obstructed with some type of food, like he was eating something when he got shot, so I got all that out and then I started CPR."
Amherst says she performed CPR on Gibson until paramedics arrived. Gibson died later at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital and police are looking for the suspects who drove away.
"I tried to save his life … sorry," said Amherst.
Meanwhile, police are looking for a suspect from a shooting in Homewood overnight. The victim was found lying face down in the grass near Brushton Avenue and Race Street.
Another man was found shot and killed in the Knoxville-Allentown section of Pittsburgh, after leaving a bar on East Warrington Avenue.
