Police Probe Deadly Shooting In Hazelwood
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Police are investigating a deadly shooting in Hazelwood overnight that claimed the life of a 20-year-old man.
Officials say someone shot Devin Wheeler, 20, inside his house in the 200-block of West Elizabeth Street around 10:30 p.m. Monday. Wheeler, who had been shot in the head, died at the scene.
Investigators have been busy gathering evidence from the scene; and Pittsburgh Police Commander Thomas Stangrecki told KDKA-TV that they are looking at a possible motive.
"Right now," Stangrecki adds, "we think this could possibly be a robbery, but we still are investigating."
Witnesses reported seeing an African-American man and woman running from the home before speeding off in a silver-colored compact vehicle.
At this point, police have not made any arrests in the case.
Anyone with information is urged to call Pittsburgh police's homicide unit at 412-323-7161. Callers can remain anonymous.
