Police Seek Suspect In Brookline Bank Robbery
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Police continue to search for a suspect following a bank robbery Wednesday afternoon in Pittsburgh's Brookline section.
Officers with Zone 6 were called to Community Bank in the 700-block of Brookline Boulevard just after noon for a hold-up alarm.
According to investigators, bank employees reported that the suspect entered the bank, went up to a teller window and handed the employee a note reading, "Be quiet and hand me everything in your drawer… I have a gun."
Witnesses told police investigators that the suspect took the undisclosed amount of money in both hands and then got away on foot.
Police say he was last spotted running across Brookline Boulevard and cutting between two houses. Investigators later found tire tracks there.
The suspect is being described as a white male standing at five-feet-10-inches tall and had a beard. He was wearing glasses, a red baseball cap, a gray t-shirt with camo sleeves and blue jeans.
Authorities say they later found the suspect's shirt a short distance away from the bank.
Police followed the suspected getaway vehicle, a green GMC pickup truck, into a Mount Oliver alley. The driver was gone and so police focused on a nearby apartment building.
Following a thorough search, nothing was found inside.
"It concerns me. I got my grandchildren in here," said John Prokop, of Mount Oliver. "Absolutely, I get concerned about things like that."
The Pittsburgh Police Robbery Squad continues to investigate.
