Man Arrested For Fatal Stabbing In Braddock Hills

BRADDOCK HILLS (KDKA) –A man is behind bars, accused of stabbing and killing his ex-lover's cousin.

It all happened around 11 a.m. Sunday inside a home on Illinois Avenue in Braddock Hills.

Police received a 911 call for a man stabbed, and the caller stated that they knew who stabbed their cousin.

A Braddock Hills officer noticed a man standing a few doors away from the scene holding a large knife, with blood on his clothes.

Darrell Carter was taken into custody. As he was being led away, he told the officer, "I did it, he threatened to shoot me and I don't play with guns, so I stabbed him."

Robert Sellmon, 63, was found on the floor in his bedroom, suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The person who called 911 knows Carter and has been living with him for a year-and-a-half. They stated recently that Carter beat them, so they decided to move out.

The witness told police that Carter was mad at Sellmon for letting his cousin move in. The witness says Carter forced his way in Sellmon's home, went straight to the bedroom and started stabbing him. They claim Carter then turned to them and said, "you're next."

Carter faces murder charges.

Neighbors say Sellmon leaves behind a 12-year-old daughter.
